Marion has always been interested in all aspects of visual art. She studied art for the Leaving Certificate.
During her career as a school teacher Marion used her interest in art to encourage her young pupils in creative art and craft activities.
Family commitments, with a husband and four children while working full time, left little time for her personal art actiities. However, she was able through night and weekend courses to keep up her interest. Marion had lessons with Neil Stein (acrylics), Margaret Creighton (Watercolour), Ron Revitt (Pastel), Ron Hartree (drawing and acrylics) and Amy Huang (Chinese brushwork, in which she has a teaching diploma.)
Marion has attended Camp Creative sessions at Tocal with Ron Hartree, Toowoomba with Brian Malt and Taree with Tom Offord.
Since retiring, moving to Forster and joining Great Lakes Art Society (GLAS) Marion has had more time to devote to her art. She has been a regular attendee at Monday Workshops with local artists and has attended weekend workshops with Graham W Smith, Pamela Griffith and Colleena Grant. Marion has also tutored several Monday workshops.
Encouraged by Val Wright and through study Marion has developed and interest in sculpture. She has worked in many mediums including paper, cardboard, clay, plaster, wood, bessemer brick, sandstone, recycled materials and natural objects.
Marion's paintings and sculptures are regularly on show at GLAS's gallery and she has exhibited her work at exhibitions in Forster, Taree and Newscastle.
